Hunter or Emissary: Who to choose in Starfield? And their rewards.

Who to side with in Starfield? Emissary or Hunter.

SPOILER ALERT: Be cautious as this guide may contain spoilers regarding the story, Starborn, and later aspects of Starfield.

Once you advance deep into Starfield’s story missions, you will cross paths with two significant characters: the Hunter and the Emissary. Both belong to the enigmatic Starborn species, resembling humans, and share your quest to gather the elusive Artifacts. Ultimately, a pivotal choice will arise, demanding you to align with one of them. But the question remains: should you side with the Hunter or the Emissary in Starfield? Let’s explore both options to help you make an informed decision.

Choosing the Hunter in Starfield

In the Hunter’s perspective, the one who possesses the strength to claim the Artifacts and access Unity holds the rightful claim, devoid of moral considerations. To the Hunter, different universes merely exist as realms for those who seek the Artifacts. In his eyes, the strongest will inevitably seize the Artifacts, no matter the means. Essentially, the Hunter’s path involves violence and defeating other Starborn to acquire their Artifacts.

Should you opt to align with the Hunter, he will become your companion during the final quest. Together, you’ll eliminate other Starborn, including the Emissary. Furthermore, he will request you to eliminate the other Keep Aquilus within your universe, as he disapproves of having two versions of himself coexisting in the same reality. You can choose to refuse, as it won’t affect the eventual outcome.

After overcoming the Emissary and securing the final Artifacts, you will progress towards Unity.

Choosing the Emissary in Starfield

The Emissary firmly believes that Unity must be safeguarded by a Starborn, and he considers himself the rightful guardian of Unity and the Artifacts. In his perspective, he possesses the authority to determine who is worthy of entry. Despite appearing less inclined towards violence, the outcome remains the same – the Emissary believes in defeating other Starborn also seeking the Artifacts.

If you decide to assist the Emissary, he will accompany you in the final quest. Together, you’ll confront other Starborn and ultimately face the Hunter.

Once the Hunter is vanquished, and you’ve acquired the final Artifacts, you can proceed to Unity.

What Happens If You Side with Neither of Them?

Finally, you have the option to abstain from aligning with either the Hunter or the Emissary. By taking this path, you advocate for a change in the established order. Both the Hunter and the Emissary are deemed flawed, and it’s time for a different approach.

Opting for this route will require you to confront the Starborn alone in the final mission, without assistance from either the Emissary or the Hunter. At the mission’s conclusion, you will encounter both of them. However, you possess the option to engage in a Persuasion check to convince them that it’s not worth engaging in combat. Succeeding in the Persuasion check will lead to them standing down, allowing you to proceed to Unity without conflict.

Irrespective of the path you choose among these three options, the ending remains unchanged. You will continue to Unity and unlock the culmination of Starfield’s narrative.

Hope this was useful for you to decide who to side with in Starfield based on the RPG element and also the rewards that each of the 3 choices have.
